If you spent yesterday tuned into Sigur Ros’s slow TV road trip around Iceland, then another touring musical project from the island nation will be right up your street.
During the next seven weeks, Ólafur Arnalds, an award-winning multi-instrumentalist and producer, is travelling to seven different places in Iceland, one per week, to record a set of new songs. He will collaborate with local artists in each location to create the new compositions, which will be released alongside a set of videos directed by Baldvin Z.
Island Songs is intended to be a living musical film, with everything captured in real-time and shared via the Island Songs website. In a recent update Arland’s said he’s looking forward to getting ‘as much feedback as possible from people via social media as the project progresses, and really keep a conversation going.’
