By Jordan Ogg, Editor
Having been with The Island Review since February 2013, the time has come for me to hand over to someone new. I hope this post will capture the attention and imagination of those who may wish to take on the job.
The role is unpaid. But it delivers much warmth and satisfaction through opportunities to work with our featured artists and writers, as well as the many visitors to the site who want to know about their work.
What I have enjoyed most is being part of an open minded publishing space, where a feature on the latest island-related best seller can sit comfortably alongside the work of new and emerging writers - space that is increasingly limited in the competitive arena of the digital marketplace, not to mention the world of print.
This mindset is an essential criterion for the job, as is being able to use Squarespace for managing the site and social media for distributing content. There is also an online submissions manager which is fairly easy to use.
And, of course, you'll have to love islands enough to want to spend a few hours each week on sourcing, reviewing, preparing, publishing and sharing content.
Full support will be given until the new editor is happy to do things by themselves.
