The language that only men speak

On the tiny Micronesian island of Sapwuahfik (formerly Ngatik) there exists a unique language spoken only by men. While the 650 islanders' generally speak a dialect of Ponopean, this second, male-only language, Ngatikese Pidgin, is a strange relic of the atoll's past. It is used mainly by fishermen and boat builders. To find out more about Ngatikese, and the history of the island, click on the satellite image of Sapwuahfik below.
