The Wolves of Isle Royale National Park

The Isle Royale National Park in Michigan is home to one of the longest running studies of predatory relations between wolves and moose, but concern is now mounting about its future.

The wolf pack has been devastated by inbreeding, which has caused the population to dive through a lack of genetic diversity. A chance occurrence last winter, reported on Wildlife Articles, means the island now has only three individuals remaining.
